a visit to Ajijic

Weve spent the last couple of days in Ajijic on the shores of Lake Chapala visiting friends from Home. Deb and Keith live in a his beautiful spot for the winter and spend their summers in an apartment in Victoria. This is taken from their patio looking across the lake

Eleven years ago Harry and I drove through this area in our old motor home with the two border collies. You can read about that trip here. Since then this place has continued to attract snowbirds and other international visitors who live here full time. At 5,000 feet the weather is lovely and there's lots for visitors to do. Deb showed us around the three lakefront towns, Ajijic, Chapala, and Jocotepec, each with a malecon along the lake, and each with its own vibe.

  1. Very lovely photos. How is your knee doing walking around ? Hope all is well ? are you resting it and taking time out ?
The few times 40 years ago, we stayed down in Mexico lots of Canadians.
I love all the nice and beautiful places you visit in Mexico but I have to say that is not what we see here in a Border State and Towns.

The gang violence along the border and now into Tucson is ramping up, Oh how I wish Mexico would send the thousands of Mexicans and South Americans that are straining our city, our services and City would send these people to all these pretty little towns you visit.
I love your post and blog, I have so enjoyed meeting you but I can not see these pretty little towns when my town is becoming a third world country. Mexico has been sending they people they don't want to America since I was a child living in Tucson.
I remember the day you left Mexico City on one of your last trips and the next day three bodies were hanging from the overpast on the main road into the City.

We had many Mormons living right across the border in the towns they build up for many years. Family lived there for about a hundred of years. The gangs shot and killed women and babies/children in two cars driving to another town close by. The hurt were airlifted to a hospital in Tucson.
Douglas, Arizona can hear the gun battles going on right across the border. Many American living there are leaving, the population is on the move and yet Mexico one of the most wealthy and corrupt countries does nothing. We take the brunt of evil. Americans can no longer live in America.
Everytime you go to Mexico I worry about you both. Hope you are well.
