The new back yard

It's done!  Doesn't it look fabulous?  Talfen and the crew actually came back on Saturday and spent the day finishing the brick laying.  Saturday evening we had our dinner at the table under the plum tree.

Then on Monday morning they came to clean up and set out the river rocks for the final touch.  And for the icing on the cake, Harry's purchased a little fountain kit so we can have some burbling water in the stones beside this bench.

We're just so pleased with the way everything turned out.  Our outdoor furniture looks as though it was purchased for this location.

Now we're ready for a big patio party.  Oh yeah!

  1. That's really gorgeous, Joanna. The work's really gone fast. I guess that's how it is when you're not trying to do it all yourself.
    What a lovely summer spot.

  3. Hey Steph, it's amazing how quickly these guys worked. What a bonus for us to have it ready in May! I know for sure if we were doing ourselves we'd still be working on ripping off the old deck and then be faced with a very steep learning curve. It would take all summer--at least!

  4. Hi Steven, if you could make it out here on your bicycle we'd feed you anything in the whole world you'd want. Just let me know, ok?
You're right, it's going to be a wonderful place to hang out this summer.

Your patio is fabulous. I envy your lovely green garden, so lush.
Do the pups drink the burbling water ?
Hamish would be trying to figure out why there is water but happy to drink it...

  6. Hi Parsnip,
I'll have to see if the pups drink the water. I expect that they will. It will mean we'll have to replenish the bucket more often.
    Cheers,
    Joanna

  8. Hi Kathleen, thanks for that. It's been quite a change from four years ago when the back yard was a field of dandelions. (Not that I don't like dandelions--in their place).

  9. Terrific job and won't you have a nice summer on the patio? I particularly like the way you go from the door level to patio level. The large landing area makes for a comfortable transition down to the patio.

  10. OH OH OH !!! Brilliant outcome. That Talfan is one brilliant stonetaffy. Tell him I said so. The stonework here in Paris is somewhat more dated (!), but beautiful in it's own way. Love your blogs.
