Beach days

Since Sue arrived we've been spending time at the beach, more so than usual because she's a beach girl and is trying to get some days in before she flies back to Victoria's grey skies.

Today we headed north to Playa Bruja, a beautiful beach where people go to surf and there's less hustle and bustle than at the city beaches.

It was a gorgeous day with just enough breeze to keep us cool and we were able to get an umbrella and table and chairs right on the sand below the one restaurant there. Here's our little spot as the sun set and we headed back to the restaurant for dinner.

I would love to have shown you photos of the little children playing in the sand, the teenagers playing volleyball, the pelicans diving for fish and the shells and waves and sand... but I only took a few pictures with the iPhone because I LOST MY CAMERA on Thursday night.

Stupidly we walked out of a bar and left it there (it's a long story involving a second glass of wine and a rush to get to a movie). And when we went back the next day nobody there had seen it.

This is the last place I saw it, at the bar in The Presidio, a very upscale restaurant so I'm surprised that it wasn't set aside for us. It's a mystery that may never be solved. I am more than a little bummed out about this--as taking photos is a big part of my traveling experience.  It also means that this blog will have fewer images. But in the big picture, it's not that terrible. I will be able to replace the camera when we get back to Victoria.

I was really looking forward to taking some photos on Monday and Tuesday when we go up into the mountains to visit Durango but the iPhone will have to do. Durango is a very Colonial Mexican town that has only become accessible to tourism since a new road went in from the coast about a year ago.
It used to be an 8-hour trip, and now it takes only two and a half hours. Apparently it has dozens of tunnels and the highest bridge in the world.  I'll post some photos if I can--but they will be iPhone photos and not the same quality.

  1. Rotten luck about the camera. What a beautiful beach, though.
