The taxi deposited us outside an old building in Trastvere, just across the bridge from Ancient Rome, at 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon. The
"hotel" is the fourth floor of an old stone apartment building. We love our room with its wooden floors and tall window overlooking the Piazza Sidney Sonnino. After settling into our room we wandered out into the cobbled streets and found a pizza place serving beautiful thin crusted pizza and a salad of radicchio, arugula, and thinly sliced oranges and pineapple. The air is so warm that a sweater is redundant and the streets are full of Italians and a few tourists. What a lovely welcome to this amazing city!
It's now 4:30 on Thursday morning (Roma time) but I am wide awake as my body is telling me that it's 7:30 in the evening (Wednesday evening that is). This jet lag is so confusing. It plays havoc with sleep for sure. I think I've slept only six hours out of the past 36. But I am not complaining. I can't wait till it gets light and we can head out to explore Rome.
I will have to spend some time tomorrow sorting out my email problems. For some reason my email to our house sitters bounced back to me. But all will resolve itself one way or another.
What a first 36 hours but you will settle in fast.
ReplyDeleteYour "Hotel" sounds fab !
cheers, parsnip
Have fun in Rome, once your jet-lag is over! I'm leaving for Toronto, Canada on Saturday to visit my son for a couple of weeks! I have started taking homeopathic anti jet-leg pills! I'll see if they help!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, we took some homeopathic "no jet lag" pills while on the plane and I think they helped a bit. I wasn't aware you could do it ahead of time. Have a lovely trip.
