Missing spring macros in Mazatlan

Here in Mazatlan (just south of the Tropic of Cancer) there just isn't a spring the way I'm used to in British Columbia.  I have to admit I'm kind of missing the tender greens and soft pastels of new growth.  So I've been searching for some spring-like colours and here's what I managed to find.

Above is a close up of new seed pods from a tree that I've yet to discover the name of.
And below are two shots of weeds in a nearby vacant lot that have recently come into bloom.  The pink one is a very tiny variety of morning glory.  The white one is a poppy-like bloom on a spiny plant that looks a bit like milk thistle. The last one is a little wild flower that reminds me of the colours of spring daffodils and hyacinths.

  1. I can imagine how you must miss the spring! You did well with your choices though. The seed pod is very spring-like and fascinating. I'd love to know what it is!

The last little flower looks just like a candytuft.

  3. Your greens are definitely more vibrant than the pale leaves here. It must be very different to not see the earth come to life again.
    That multi-colored flower is amazing...

  6. I love that first photograph because it looks like individual cells with the nucleus clearly visible. Fascinating plant life down there.
