Garden views
We've finished spreading the mulch and so the new front garden can be declared complete. Now we just wait for things to grow and settle in. But the mulching is so satisfying, spreading rich dark mulch around all the plants gives them nourishment but also a deep background to show off the greenery. Here are a few photos to show how it looks.
One of the things I didn't expect is the way the new plantings make the trees look like they belong there, rather than just poking through the weedy grass. Another satisfaction comes from compliments from people walking or driving by. We've never met so many neighbours as we have since we began this garden redo. Everyone who walks by comments on the transformation and then stays to chat a bit. Front yard gardening is for sure a community-building undertaking.
We're pretty tired from all the planting and mulching so will be glad of a few days off. Maggie and I are off early tomorrow morning to go to a flyball tournament in Nanaimo. We'll be back late Sunday night.
