The transparent house
I have a dear friend who recently moved into a glass house. This is a light-filled space with walls of glass on three sides that allow the inside and the outside to blend. Isn't it interesting? I love the way the reflections of the trees outside the front show in the windows at the top and the trees in the back yard can be seen through the inside of the house. It's so transparent. Would you like to live there?
I'm linking this to the "Looking out, Looking in" theme over at Mortal Muses. If you hop over there you'll find some very interesting visual responses to this theme.

Oh, I would like to live there. I'm imagining the rain running down all that glass making everything outside blurry - like the world looks without my specs. And the light! Oh, that would be wonderful to have so much light.
ReplyDeleteI love a light-filled house, so yes. (But, hopefully there is some privacy screening on the lot?)
ReplyDeleteI would live there! I would love the feeling of being inside and out at the same time. I'm with Barb, I'd want a private lot or acreage for this house :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to live there! It would feel like you were outdoors, all of the time. Gorgeous! Perfect for looking out, or looking in. Thanks for joining the Mortal Muses today!
ReplyDeleteI love the home but I would be interested to know .... how cold or hot is it. I have walls of windows and even with the overhangs it can be hot or cold. Plus at night because I live out in the country it can be very dark even with my garden lights. How do they handle that ?
ReplyDeletePlus I need some walls for art.
It an interesting living question.
cheers, parsnip
Hi Parsnip,
ReplyDeleteThis house has concrete floors that have heating built right in so it's toasty when it's cold. We don't get extreme heat like you do so that's not an issue. There are two different blinds that can be pulled down (one light and one dark) to give privacy. Plus my friend has installed some soft canvas curtains that can be pulled across to make it feel cozy at night. You're right about the art, although there are a few walls. She is having some challenges there.
A very interesting house to live in because of all the gorgeous reflections and it must seem like living in a garden! No, I wouldn't like to live there because so much glass feels cold to me... but it would be lovely to have one room in a house like that! I would probably love being in that one room a great deal, but like the snug feeling of something more private!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing house. Oh how I would dearly love to live here! Thank you for linking up with the mortal muses.
