I - imbricate

I couldn't think of what to post for "I"and this is what I came up with--imbricate.  It's a new's a new word for me.  It refers to things that are arranged so as to overlap like roof tiles.  I immediately thought of these beautiful patterns--fish scales, pine cones, sunflowers.

Not to mention turtles and camelias.

Oh isn't nature incredible?

  5. A little beauty, a little math and a new word. What's not to love? I'm certain in some of those photos, especially the sunflower, the Fibonacci sequence is hard at work.

  6. These images are wonderful. There is a documentary film from the "NOVA"" series called "The Shape of Things". It is absolutely fascinating, talking about patterns in nature and the role they play in survival.
